1.61 ASP Blue Light Blocking Lenses HMC

The 1.61 high-index makes the lenses thinner and lighter, especially suitable for those with stronger prescriptions, while the aspheric design provides clearer vision with less distortion throughout the lens. Furthermore, the blue light-blocking coating helps reduce digital eye strain, improve sleep quality, and filter out harmful blue light from screens.

    Product Description

    What is blue light?

Blue light is a part of the visible light spectrum, with a wavelength range of approximately 380 to 500 nanometers. It is a kind of high-energy, short-wavelength light that is all around you. In nature, the biggest source of blue light is sunlight. Artificial blue light is widely present in LED lighting and digital screens of electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, tablets, televisions, etc. Unlike natural blue light from the sun, artificial blue light does not have a full color spectrum and has a high blue light spectrum, making it unnatural and harmful.

Potential concerns of blue light exposure

Digital Eyestrain: Prolonged exposure to blue-light-emitting screens can lead to eye strain, dry eyes, blurred vision and headaches. This is usually caused by reduced blinking and difficulty in focusing the eyes on high-energy scattered blue light.

Sleep Disruption: Light sensors in the eyes and even the skin can detect the difference between the intense blue light of bright daylight and the warmer red tones that signal the end of the day. As the surrounding light gradually shifts to the hues of sunset, the sensors in the eyes prompt the body to release its naturally stored melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep. The study found that when people are exposed to blue light in the evening, their bodies do not release as much melatonin and their sleep-wake cycles are delayed or disrupted.

    Product Advantages

◎ Aspheric Design: Aspheric lenses are those without a uniform spherical radius, known in optics as the radius of curvature. The design of aspheric lenses refers to the continuous change in diopter from the optical center to the edge, with this change following a parabolic curve. This corrects the image and addresses issues such as field distortion, while making the lenses lighter, thinner, and flatter. Additionally, they maintain excellent impact resistance.

◎ Blue Blocking: Blue light blocking lenses work by blocking or filtering out a specific range of blue light wavelengths, usually between 400 and 500 nanometers. This is achieved through special coatings or blue light blocking properties embedded in the lens monomer. These lenses can be clear or yellow or amber in color to help reduce the visual impact of the blocked blue light.
